OK, So What About Those Mansions?
Beloved, as it was with the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus' day, so also have many of our traditions blinded us to the TRUTH. Many today are looking for the Lord Jesus to come and carry His church up, up, and away to heaven so the believers can live forever in "mansions" there. But that teaching is very misleading, and it contributes to much of the spiritual immaturity that we see in the church today. Let me share with you a few things about this ...
The teaching that the Lord Jesus Christ returned to heaven in order to build mansions for believers is based on only one verse in the bible -- John 14:2. But I assure you, that verse does not suggest that Christ is building big houses for His church in heaven, but rather, it describes what Jesus put forth in the entire fourteenth chapter of John, and that is about the new covenant fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles.
Beloved, in John 14 Jesus teaches that even as the Father dwells in Him, so also the Father and He desire to DWELL IN US! The Father’s House is CHRIST, and it is THERE, and there only, that WE are made part of the House of God. Jesus went to the cross, and then to the Father, in order to prepare a place for us in Himself! Then, through the work of divine deliverance, we can become the "dwelling places" (the old English term - "mansions") OF GOD, and that through the process of salvation.
Beloved, THIS is what is repeated all throughout the scriptures. To come to a place of constantly ABIDING IN CHRIST is to become an ABODE (a "mansion") for the fullness OF GOD to DWELL!
If you look carefully in John chapters 14 through 17, you'll see there that Jesus NEVER ONCE spoke of His going to heaven or of our going to heaven. Many Christians today say, "No one goes to heaven except through Christ," but Jesus Christ Himself says, "NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME!" There is a BIG difference between going to heaven (a term for the spirit realm) and coming to the Father, beloved.
Sometimes I think that we all get far too much teaching and not enough food for thought, and this often causes dependence on men for answers rather than us just going to the Father for ourselves. So ... I'm going to stop right here with this article. I will end this though, by saying that the bible nowhere states that Jesus Christ is building fine houses for us in heaven. That, beloved, is just more senseless delusions of the spiritually blind. When Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you," He was speaking of going to THE CROSS, and then of the sprinkling of His blood in the presence of God in the spirit realm so that we can be received INTO GOD and become an inseparable part of Him.
Ask the Lord if these things be so. I share what I share here, not so much that you'll believe what I'm saying, but so that you might come to better see HIM, to better know HIM, that you will commune WITH HIM more and more often
in a very deep and rich way, and that, so that you can reveal HIM to others, even having BECOME "a mansion" in the Father's House.
