Shine-ola

I was listening to a sermon on "spiritual warfare" last night, and for the most part it was pretty boring, but the speaker did say this, which I bear witness to (I'm paraphrasing here) ...

"The church today is not much more than a form of godliness without power. It is nothing like the first century church. Those in the first century had the power and the anointing of God on them that could turn the world upside down. Why did they have this and we don't? Because those in the early church were not afraid to suffer for their faith. They were not afraid of the price that they would have to pay for engaging the enemy in battle. They were willing to endure the trials and the afflictions and deep personal loss that often comes to those who fight the enemy in the spirit realm on behalf of others. Those disciples back then knew about the disciples' cross. They carried that cross wherever they went, and because of this, the kingdom and the power and the glory of God was often and regularly manifested through them."

With this is mind, beloved, I have a picture to share with you. The other day someone said something to me about me coming back from San Francisco with "Shine-ola" on me (rather beat-up) rather than Shekinah on me (like Moses). They then laughed. I thought about this a bit, and then I thought, "I don't aspire to be like Moses, but like Jesus." I then thought, "Well then, what did the glory of God look like on Jesus when HE was engaged in battle on behalf of others?" This picture is what came to my mind...

Jesus carrying cross
This is what the glory of GOD looked like on a SON Who was engaged in battle and Who was in perfect submission to the Father in the fight. Now to the natural minded man this probably looks like "Shine-ola" of all shine-olas. To the Father though, this is a picture of His beloved Son in Whom He was (and is) well pleased.
